Japanese Snack, Karinto

Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/3 tablespoons brown sugar
a pinch of salt
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk

vegetable oil for deep frying
a skillet

Preparation:
1. In a bowl, sift the flour and baking powder. Blend in the sugar, a pinch of salt egg and milk. Make a smooth dought and roll out super thin on a cutting board. Cut into 1/2 * 1/4 inch thin strips

2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet 1/3 full to 330F.  Drop the pieces of dought into the oil one at the time, Make sure that they don't stick together. Take the cookies out when they are browned. I usually drain Karintos on a paper towel.
